The Village of Caledonia, Wisconsin is located in the northeast corner of Racine County on 48.7 square miles including 3.2 square miles of river and lake areas. The village had a population of 24,705 at the time of the 2010 census.
The east side of the village borders Lake Michigan, making it easily accessible for both summer and winter recreation. Cliffside Campground is located just a short walk away from Lake Michigan and is a good place to spend a weekend with the family. If you want to be even closer to the water, visit Chapla Park. This lakeside park is a great place to take some scenic pictures of Lake Michigan and soak up all that it has to offer.
The Caledonia is also home to the Wind Point Lighthouse. This historic lighthouse was built in 1880 in an effort to reduce the number of shipwrecks near the area. Today, the tower is open for tours, both individual and large groups. The lighthouse is also accompanied by a park & beach area where visitors can relax or take a dip in the waters of Lake Michigan. The Wind Point Lighthouse is a great activity for the whole family, and it’s a good chance to learn some local history.
Other recreational activities, like golf, are also available in Caledonia. Nearby Johnson Park and South Hills Country Club are both beautiful courses that are open to the public and offer a series of challenging, but fun holes. When you and your pup want to get some exercise together, go to the Caledonia Dog Park. The park has 28 acres of land for your dog to run around, and when they get hot they can jump in the Root River to cool off.
